It goes out at daybreak. The only function that doesn't work is the actual motion feature. I've tried resetting it via the circuit breaker but no luck there. The red light is blinking as if it's waiting to detect motion. When I do reset it at night, it doesn't wait for motion, it automatically comes on and remains on. I didn't keep the instructions for it but I'm guessing it's time to replace it. Any other ideas? It's a Journeyman type model and only survived one storm. Immediately following the storm, it didn't work at all. It eventually began to work in its current state after the first reset I tried. The sensitivity switch is at the lowest setting and my light on timer is set to one minute.

Next time it comes on, turn it off, then turn it on again. Check it to see if it will now work with motion. If not, replace the motion sensor. Sounds like it is in default mode.

Your assessment is correct. The motion sensor has failed. These lights all have a light sensor so that they don't operate during daylight. Replacements are available cheaply. Remember to shut off your breaker before replacing the light. About a 10 minute job NOT including adjusting the motion sensor aim and sensitivity which can be a little more time consumptive. Good Luck. If the light is in a difficult place to reach, then I would consider moving up in quality so that the light will have a longer life span. My motto is, that harder something is to replace, the better quality the replacement should be. ie. if a foyer light is 18 feet in the air and, put in exended life bulbs. Good Luck.

Most motion light have about 4 different setting on them and one of them is on dusk to dawn. The others are on 1 minute , on 5 minutes , 15 min and 30 min.
Try changing the settings.

it might need to be reset. turn the light switch off for about ten minutes, then turn it back on. Other then that, it probably needs a new bulb.
