I guarantee you the kid's shelter ain't free. Probably has his/her own room, yes? Food? Clothing? Medicine? Insurance?

Add it all up and I'm betting mom didn't make a profit off the deal.

Man oh man! Thank you for a question with substance! First of all I have no children, yet. However I've seen a bunch of guys go through this child support nightmare and I have to say that it really is'nt fair to be charging a man child support for a child when the mother has choosen to move on with another man. The new man should accept the fact that the child comes with the woman, it's a package deal. I'm not saying the father should have no further responsibility in any way, as a matter of fact if you don't provide for your child you're a weak punk and not even close to being a man! Now, that said, I belive that yes there should be an auditory accounting of how those "child support" payment are used. I just couldn't stand the though of my wages being garnished to the tune of 50% or more only to have my ex out there spending it on herself. There should be accountability across the board on both sides. And the amount of the cost to support one child should be standardized since its all about the childs needs and not the fathers income. If the father can provide more it should be given as a love gift that did'nt have to be done. Then the child knows that daddy really cares:)

Anything that relates to the child's well being is financially supporting the child--if its used to help with the rent or utility bills groceries gas to get to work or day care--where ever the parent who is caring for the child needs to apply it for the good of the child--Is that what you are asking?? It should not be used on beer or drugs ---or a new boat or other recreation vehicle --but summer camp for the child that is fine--see to benefit the child's well being --

I get child support for my son and i put half in a bank account that i have in his name and the other half i use towards bills. I get a total of $450 a month. It sounds like a lot of money but it really isn't once you put $225 in his account, then you still have to think about clothing, food, childcare expenses, school activities, etc.

I'm sure there are single parents that misuse "Child Support" for their own personal "luxury" things, but please don't assume we all do because i'm a single mother who works full time to support my three kids!! :) So i don't sit at home waiting for the Child Support check to come in!!

Yes child support should be tracked to indicate how and what it is spent on. In cases that the receiver of support is capable of supporting the kids without this additional money the money should be put in an account for the kids college.

That is what child support is for - the financial support of the child....... what else would it be for? I don't understand what you are trying to say.

Well, the money isnt manna from heaven for you to be able to use for whatever you like, at least it isnt suppose to be. I would think the name would somehow give you an idea of what it is for. But that is just me.
