I had an abdominal hernia repaired exactly 1 month ago. Would it now be safe to go to Disneyland and ride the rides? I wouldn't want to tear anything but my kids really want to go tomorrow. I could call my doctor but this seems like such a dumb question!

Thanks for the advise.

After you have any kind of surgery, no question is too dumb!!! Be safe and call your surgeon so that you can have fun and not be worrying about tearing anything loose. Have fun and good luck.

Since I'm not a doctor I can't really advise you as whether it's safe to go or not. You should not be afraid to ask your doctor this question as it's vitally important to know before going there. He is the best one to decide if you are ready for this kind of activity. If you go and something were to go wrong you would be the first to say in hindsight that you should have checked with your doctor.

I don't believe this is a dumb question and I'm sure that neither will your doctor. Prevention is the key to mending from surgery. If your doctor is not available to see you at the very least phone and leave a message for him to call you and explain what it is that you are planning on the message.

Last resort - when in doubt - don't do.

You're probably fine. If it makes you feel better, maybe wear tight jeans or a truss just to be safe. Don't feel foolish. I had a hernia repair twice, 15 years apart. The last time was 8 years ago and I still hold my tummy when I cough!

Or you could just take the kids and let them do the hairiest rides by themselves. You're not going to have a problem in the haunted mansion or the underwater thing.
