Do you mean are there aliens waiting for us to show up and start trading DVD's and stuff. It's a pretty safe bet the answer is no.

Its possible and some would say even probable, however there is alien life elsewhere in the solar system.

Mars is probably the best or at least most likely place to find something like frozen pond scum or algae or something.

Europa and many of the larger ice moons of the outer solar system are a good candidates to find microbial life (again something like pond scum or maybe red-tides on Earth).

What's cool is that likely in our lifetimes, we will KNOW the answer.

If we find life the next question is does it come from the Earth, we'd have to rule that out, basically was the spaceship contaminated, somehow did the microbes or whatever started on Earth and get thrown wherever we find it by a meteor or comet impact.

If we find non-Earth based life-forms we will know that practically speaking there's life all over the universe because there isn't too much special about our Solar system other than the Earth, it's a pretty average star system.

There are many of them in the universe but you can definitely say there are none on mars.
