There have been many great quarterbacks who were also great in college. My vote would go to Roger Staubach, the great Navy quarterback. A couple Joe's, Namath and Montana weren't too shabby either.

Most people would say Tommie Frazier of that Nebraska team in the mid-90s. But others would say Matt Leinart of USC. To determine the best qb in college history, people have to look at production and accomplishments. and there are not two qb's in college who have done more than those two, although leinart has done a little more. but the best pure pocket passer was peyton manning. vince young was the best option qb.

At first i was gonna say Vince. Hey man, hes still runnin on Sc in pasadena. But, i will say Tommie Frazier. He might not have the numbers, but he was freakin unstoppable. As a Sophmore, he leads the Cornhuskers to the national championship game and they lose on a missed field goal. 1994 misses most of the season with blood clots, but plays in the championship game against a miami defense that had Ray Lewis and Warren sapp, and they win. Then in 1995 they had the greatest team in college history and whipped #2 florida in the championship game 62-24

The greatest college quarterback I saw play was Elway. So fast, such a powerful arm, he practically looked like a right-handed Mike Vick (little slower but better arm).
As for numbers, Ty Detmer, no doubt.

I don't know...David Klingler. College football is a joke. It's minor league period. I mean, look at some of the Heisman winners who were QBs--Chris Weinke, Charlie Ward, Terry Baker, John Huarte, Steve Spurrier, Gary Beban, Gino Torretta, Eric Crouch....do I need to go on? Very few graduate to the pros like Roger Staubach or Carson Palmer and do anything.

Leinart even in a losing effort against Texas he had great numbers. His only other loss was in double overtime.

I'm a Gator, so I'd have to say Danny Wuerffel, and had Rex Grossman played 4 years under Spurrier, he would have been the best. But there are too many to name from all over.

Without a doubt, hands down.
Johnny Unitas of the Louisville Cardinals!
The stats speak for themselves. So does his success in the NFL.
Write it down, the best of all time as far as the NCAA and probably the NFL also.
