Ovulation "USUALLY" occurs about mid-cycle. Your cycle is calculated by counting from the first day of your period to the last day before your next period starts. So as an example:
October 15: Day one of your period
November 11: Last day before your next period
November 12: Day one of your period
So your cycle would be 28 days, so theoretically (because not every woman ovulates on the same day) your ovulation - or the release of the ovum (egg) from the ovary would be on the 14th day, or about the 30th of October.
If you're using this to avoid pregnancy, do NOT rely solely upon this. A woman can ovulate at ANY time during her cycle, even during her period. Also, some women ovulate 2x a month (I'm one of them), and not every woman is going to have a 28 day cycle! There are too many variable to assume anything, if you want to avoid pregnancy.

Ovulation happens 14 days after your period ends. But that usually only happens exactly 14 days later if you have a normal period and its around the normal time every 28 days(alot of women dont have this). then your peak vertility is for 2 to 3 days and those are the days you ovulate and can get pregnant. It would be extremely hard for someone to get pregnant on their period or right after since another egg has not yet dropped.

Ovulation takes place about two weeks before your period. That means about a week after your last period ends. You are fertile for about 3-5 days. But it is different for every woman. You can have longer cycles or delayed ovulation for many reasons.

You ovulate around two weeks before your period every month. Calculate when your next period should start and then count backwards on the calendar 14 - 16 days. It is in that time that you ovulate.

It happens about halfway between periods. But don't rely on that if you are trying to NOT get pregnant. Things like that are often uncertain.
