Correction on the question....what are my chances though? I applied to UC Davis and Santa Barbara. I'm on the brink of submitting my apps to Fordham and Emory (Oxford College)--they sent me fee-waived applications. Just got accepted at Unlv for Pre-Clinical Lab Science. I'm thinking of two more last-minute schools, where else should I apply?

If you tell them you've been here only for a year (and if you go to a fairly academically hard school) then I think it'll help you. You should've taken the TOEFL--it's the test for people who haven't been in the US for long. But since you've gotten an SAT score that's higher than many students who've lived in America their whole lives get, it might be okay.

They don't consider your SAT score as much as they consider your high school record. U of C at Davis considers SAT scores and your high school record to be both very important, but they do take into account where you live. If you're a California resident, you'll have a better chance. You should try Emory (Oxford), but I'm not too sure about Fordham. Apply if you have the time, but focus on getting into Emory--I think that one's easier to get into.

Did you spend a lot of time on your essay and did you get people to proofread it? Essays are also very important in the application process (for some schools more than others). Also, how many extracurricular activities you're in isn't as important as how long you've been involved in them and if you've got a leadership position.

Well, good luck!

You're in California? Consider UC Irvine with Riverside or Santa Cruz as a backup?

Boston U is pretty hard to get in to. Not sure why someone mentioned those.

What ethnicity are you? Unless you're black and maybe Latino, ethnicity doesn't help you that much (oh, cept for Native American). Your socio-economic group is better (if it's low). If you're Asian and applying to a UC, that's a negative.

its a bit late for you start thinking about which schools you should apply for....

your sats are pretty low... i don't know if you can get anywhere with that.. unless you have some AP courses...
but you could try Boston Univeristy

Ask your college counselor. If you don't have one, research schools in your area, or maybe ask other people what they're doing to get an idea.
