do you mean a Fouete turn? if so, it will take a lot of practice to master it. i know it took me several years to get good at them.

first warm up. do some doubles and make sure you can hold your balance well.
before you begin the actual turn, stand at the bar nd practice fouetes without turning. extend your leg in front of you, 90 degrees, and bend your supporting leg. then, keeping your hips correctly aligned, bring your leg out to second keeping it as close to 90 degrees as possible. at the same time, straighten your leg and rise to releve. last, bring your leg back to passe.

try those fouetes without turning for a while. once you feel comfortable with them, you can add in the turn. be sure to stand up straight and find your center as you turn.

GOOD LUCK!

with practice, you will be good at them soon :)

Fouete turns are tough. It's hard to give advice without seeing you actually do the turn - I'd recommend having your dance teacher watch you and give his/her corrections - it could be your arms or leg or ankle or center or your spot throwing you off.

Start slow and practice without doing the turn (e.g., stop when your leg gets to 90 degrees and practice balancing on your standing leg and arms in second). If you can stay balanced in that position, then you can start doing a single fouete. If you're doing double or triple pirouettes, you have the ability to do a fouete :o)

Good Luck!

Do you mean a fouete turn? I was never able to do those very well either. I think part of it is keeping your leg at 90 degrees to your body and just letting it hinge from the knee.

practice turning in second, and also holding your leg out in second on releve. make sure your wieght is evenly distributed (aka your balanced) and just keep practicing!
