You know sometimes when celebrities sing their voice kind of fluctuates, I can't really explain it but Christina Aguilera does it a lot and Kelly Clarkson does it too sometimes. Does anyone know what that's called and how to do it?

It's not vibrato, vibrato is when your voice fluctuates but I'm talking about like.. kiind of when you clear your throat and try to sing haha. I can try to put a clip of it so you can listen if that helps?

Vibrato is when it sound like your voices "Shakes" - at least that's what my 10-year old daughter says. Vibrato happens as your voice matures, it is a natural vibration that occurs.
I think you describe the almost gospel sound that both Aguilera and Clarkson use when they sing. Gospel-like, almost jazz like sound at the end of their phrases. They only way to learn how to do it, is to listen to people who do it WELL!

Its not Vibrato.

Vibrato is when the pitch you are singing fluctuates, but I know exactly what you mean. Some people call it "bending" like the bend their notes every which way. It doesn't yet have a specific name.

It is vibrato. Opera singers do it all the time, and that's what they call it.
