ok here is what that thing is.

It will play regular cds as in the ones that you buy from the shops, these are also known as AUDIO cds.

it will also play DATA cds that contain mp3s, these can be made with a computer.

this is now old technology, people have been throwing these away, I have about 15 of the things as I pick them up to give to people who might still appreciate them, they might be a bit bulky nowadays and hold little music but one cd stuffed full of mp3s holds more than you really need, if you get over their size then they are still good.
But I would never buy one as for the same money you get an mp3 player of the "new" type that needs no disc to run, mine holds the same as 2 X mp3 CDs and the rechargeable battery runs forever. It's also very small, a third of a box of matches and cost me $22. I can also take files with me, listen to the radio or record voice, so I use it as a notepad too. I also recorded an abusive policeman once and had my revenge on him.

umm..ok..

a cd player is a portable round device that you could put cd's in and listen to them..

an mp3 player is an even smaller device that doesnt use cd's..the songs are held inside and you listen that way..

good luck with the world of technology..
