The symbol itself dates back at least to the fourth century B.C., and has been identified with the Eastern philosophical religions of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. In the Western world it has long been adopted into the symbolism of myth, magic, astrology, and witchcraft.
"yin" would be dark, passive, downward, cold, contracting, and weak,
"yang" would be bright, active, upward, hot, expanding, and strong.
The shape of the yin and yang sections of the symbol, actually gives you a sense of the continual movement of these two energies, yin to yang and yang to yin, causing everything to happen: just as things expand and contract, and temperature changes from hot to cold.
"Yang is male, positive, and represented by the Sun.
Yin is female, negative, and represented by the Moon,''
Everything has its opposite—although this is never absolute, only relative. No one thing is completely Yin or completely Yang. Each contains the seed of its opposite. For example, winter can turn into summer; "what goes up must come down".
I hope this information gives you some insight into Yin & Yang : )
Love & Blessings

Yin and yang are considered to be opposites. Yin represents eternity, dark, feminine, left side of the body, etc. Yang is its opposite and represents history, light, masculine, right side of the body, etc.Yang is male, positive, and represented by the Sun. Yin is female, negative, and represented by the Moon.
It's probably saying your very feminine, rather than really dark and negative.

Oh my god! We learnt this in Global Studies class!
But first, I just want to tell you there is this show on Disney Channel, Yin, Yang, Yo, and Yin is the sister, and Yang is the brother.class!
Yin- Dark side
- Female
- Left
- Moon
- Negative
Yang- Light side
- Male
- Right
- Sun
- Positive
They are complete opposites.
The concepts of Yin and Yang originate in ancient Chinese philosophy and metaphysics, which describes two primal opposing but complementary forces found in all things in the universe.
Yin (Chinese: 陰/阴; pinyin: yīn; literally "shady place, north slope (hill), south bank (river); cloudy, overcast") is the darker element; it is sad, passive, dark, feminine, downward-seeking, and corresponds to the night.
Yang (陽/阳; yáng; "sunny place, south slope (hill), north bank (river); sunshine") is the brighter element; it is happy, active, light, masculine, upward-seeking and corresponds to the day. Yin is often symbolized by water or earth, while Yang is symbolized by fire, or wind.
Yin (receptive, feminine, dark, passive force) and Yang (creative, masculine, bright, active force) are descriptions of complementary opposites rather than absolutes. Any Yin/Yang dichotomy can be seen as its opposite when viewed from another perspective. The categorization is seen as one of convenience. Most forces in nature can be seen as having Yin and Yang states, and the two are usually in movement rather than held in absolute stasis.
In Western culture, Yin and Yang are often inaccurately portrayed as corresponding to "evil" and "good" respectively.

Yin is light....and Yang is dark
In the picture it means in every darkness there is light....and in every dark there is light
Thats why there is a light circle in the dark....and a dark circle in the light
The yin yang is supposed to represent how we are as humans///
