I was reading some questions and answers about magazine editors and all that. And then I reached an answer were it said that you must be attractive and must have a nice body and all that to get into the industry. For writing in a good magazine like Allure, Cosmogirl, Seventeen ... I was just wondering ... is that true?

VERY TRUE as with all things in life

alot of people combine "beautiful" with "thin" which isn't true in most cases.

In magazines the models always look flawless, but theres MAJOR effort that goes into them. Computer effects, lighting, profecional makeup and hair. All of these are just trying to make the models "industry beautiful".

The " you must be attractive and thin" is rediculus. However by attractive I think they ment you look like you take care of yourself. Ex: not sweatpants with stains on them all the time. Thin is stupid. I hope i somewhat answered your question.

Watch The Devil Wears Prada. Yes it matters. That movie is based on an actual magazine editor.

Your chances of getting a job should be based on your abilities. Unfortunately, we live in a very superficial world where external appearance matters. Even in other jobs if there are two equally qualified people going for the same job, the better -looking one will win. It's unfair, but life's not fair.

That's a fake world.

You don't MUST be attractive to write about beauty, but obviously they think probably somebody not so good looking can't be a good writer because doesn't have the "personal experience"

Are ALL their readers hot girls? Hmmmm...

Besides: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

dear is it true,
best way to asrew this question is to: see the movie "the devil weras prada". Breifly the movie is now available on dvd and deals with an ugly girl working in the glamour buisness. watch this film and see how importnat it is to not only be attractive but wear the right clothes in that world. unfortunatly we live in a society that places a lot on appearence and beauty.

Probably. I find it sad though there are alot of beautiful women who arent a size 0. we should not be judged by what we look like, but ion our work. I think that the fashion industry has ruined alot of women's lives one way or another.

no, you don't have to be attractive or have a nice body to get into the industry. you just need to be polite, be kind to other, positive attitude at all the time. you know....most of the work place they looking or positive attitude can do the job not by the look.

good day

At least the person must have an excellent fashion sense. There are persons that work for the fashion industry who are not "pretty", but they know the fashion trends and use it to their advantage.
