If a new planet is found?

How long will it be before the Americans declare war on it?

Lots of new planets have been found outside our solar system - approaching 200 last time I checked - they're all large gas giants though like our Jupiter (but bigger) since they're the only ones we can detect.

The way America is going now they'll do worse than declare war on it. They'll invade with speeches of 'promoting democracy', kill their leaders, incite civil wars and try and convert them to Christianity!

If the search for life on another planet is successfull, DONT assume that life will be intelligent life.

*Its far far far more likely that any planet would have to have all the right elements, such as the right distance from it local star & light source, that it has a graviational field or even a magnetic field, an atmosphere of a type that might allow for life formation.

Any life forms found might only be very primitive, not advanced or perhaps it might be recognised as being in the very earliest stages of evolution as we humans understand it.

**Dont assume any life forms found will even be based on carbon & water which are's is!!

**The problem even if you did assume we found intelligent life forms else where, they might just be like apes or chimps. Not neccessarily advanced high intelligence.

**Perhaps the scanrio might be reversed that the life forms were and are light years more advanced than the human race. Then the USA would feel even more threatened, even more likely to behave in a hostile manner i.e. shoot first ask questions later!!.

**What if the aliens declared war on the human race first? What if there weapons were far advanced beyond ours??

**The problem is that even if we were successfull in finding other intelligent life, & civilisations my guess is that they would be located so far away we wouldnt be able to travel to meet them. Why? because the universe is so vast and humans dont even know how to travel 1 light year and come back safely, & given that another civilisation might live hundreds or thousands of light years away you can begin to see the size of the problem.

Interesting that 40 plus members of Bin Ladens family were flown out of the U.S. within 48 hours of the attack an during a no fly embargo, we like to question murderers families in this country, you know have you seen him? etc.
An seeing as the FBI is on record warning of just such an attack its very unfortunate more wasn't done to prevent it.

Then again you can't rule a population without fear, I see your violent crime is down 80% but the reporting of it is up 650%
