just itv channels its a mistake from the television company. its also a sign to tell to to get ready to put the kettle on!

It used to be on all the channels BBC as well, its a cueing signal for starting the next vtr or whatever. I guess not so common now probably other ways of doing it.

Oh I remrber them, they used to come up to tell you it was a commercial break or the programme was finishing, by the way, what channel is it your seeing the black dots on?
I havet noticed them for a while now.

I haven't seen that in years, to be honest... but you knew it meant an advert break was coming up... Think it was all channels that have adverts... but, as I say, I've not seen it since the pre-Sky days, on a cronky old telly....

It means that the adverts are about to come on! It's like a one minute warning or something like that. Gives you time to put the kettle on!!!
