The looks ... very downtrodden, hurt and unhappy .... confused, resentful, and weak ...sometimes smokers...often a sallow complexion, and a very poor posture ... glancing around unhappily ....grumpy, pessimistic ...sour ..

I would say that the qualities that make a person a doormat are letting people decide for you what to do think and say in life. Most especially if you know better than what you are being told and you won't stick up for your own beliefs.

Submissive, Non - assertive, Trying to please everyone, Not having any strong feelings- likes or dislikes.....in short anyone can use him/her and wash their dirt on......as if a doormat!!

I think its when you let people step all over you (not literally) when you just let people put you down and you don't say anything about it
