How do people in America survive poverty?

Some don't have running water here. We are suppose to be the land that has everything. America is helping with other countries rebuild when we need to rebuild and help our own. So many here are living hand to mouth and we arent doing what we need to do right here. I think we live in a pathetic country when we dont do anything at all to help our own people.Hand out millions of $ for other countries but yet our country is crying out for help. So what is the logic in that?

Our government cannot solve every problem it has in this country. That's why there are communities everywhere, because it is the responsibility of the COMMUNITY to make sure that people don't go without. Let's remember one important point about the job of the community: it can only help those who allow the help to come into their lives. Maybe, just maybe, the individual is not allowing the help, because it doesn't come in the form the individual wants or think they need. That's why there are a lot of complainers here. But, for every complainer who is not given their way on things, there's a ton of other good people who are quietly making their lives better. They do it because they are keeping their eyes on the future.
Some people say "I can't save." But, there are plenty of poor people who are doing it anyway. They do it, because they know they can, even if its a nickel here and a dime there.

And, one more thing, if you don't like America, then what are YOU doing to change it?

You can get water from a well, or a tap somewhere down the street. A bucket per person per day is generally enough. Another bucket if you want to shower.

you are quite right, US is not a place to be poor. Canada and Europe have much more generous welfare programs (families remain on welfare for generations), but taxes are higher and economy is weaker.

I agree with you. Why the heck do we send so much money to others while ignoring our own fellow Americans? What the heck is Congress thinking? No American should go to bed hungry, or go without the basic necessities that all of us enjoy. For that matter, no American should be without clothing, education on a higher level, and a desire to reform the corruption in Washington, which is rampant like a virus. This is just my opinion. I call em' like I see em'. Regards!
