How can a kid band get discovered?

I am 12 years old and play the electric guitar and sing in a kid band called "Ph@" with some of my friends. The ages range from 8-12. We live in Chicago and have written and practiced many songs. We want to get discovered somehow, and need to find our start somewhere. Do you know anywhere our band could perform?

If you know someone's dad or third cousin twice removed's best friend's music teacher's college roomate who's a big enough name in the business, it helps if you pull some strings to get a gig.

Alternatively, you can make a homemade cd or EP with demo songs and send them out to local record companies. Set up a blog or website to promote your band. Publicity can be bought, or with the right moves, used to your best ability. Your band can be entered in a local talent showcase or set up a makeshift stage at a regular spot where you can actually perform regularly (get permission from authorities for this one). Enter a battle of the bands or a talent show.

Although, at the end of every dream is the possibility that you might never get famous enough or get discovered briefly before dropping out of the scene and disbanding. Be prepared, always and do remember to get a decent education in case the band does not turn out as well as you hoped. Don't give up, persevere and live your childhood to the fullest. Always be positive but still have fun!

I personally would really like to see the likes of PH@ where I live, because the only kid band I know doesn't exist and my band, HaLo ConnectN, is always ready to help those who need publicity in the Southeast Asia sector of the world. If we can't do that, at least we can make you famous in our school.

In the beginning, you should perform anywhere you can, even if you don't get paid. Call your city officials and tell them you want to perform at fairs and festivals. Check out local schools and see when they are having talent contests or a battle of the bands.
The best advertisement is word of mouth. If people see you performing, and you're good, they will tell other people about you and that's how you will get a name for yourself.

Hun to be discovered you need people to listen to your band.you no how ill tell you,go in some competitions they must have some in were you live.and if you don't win the first time,well keep going on and on don't stop.And be POSITIVE.When you go on stage be yourself an maybe your going to have stage fright but not to have it you will have to take big breath before and stay calm.And don't forget to look in to audience this is a couple of points for you try it and don't forget your beautiful smile you got,except if its a sad song, well give your smile after they claps there hands and say thank you after your songs are done.Try to have fun on stage.Oh yes if some people tell you your not good please don`t let them put you down.Please GO GO GO ..........
