The only resource I found related to this said it has an average depth of 3 meters. I find this very hard to believe, however, if the same conclusion is reached by those who answer this question then I have no choice!

Seriously... 10 feet sounds shallow for navigation but you are talking average so it is possible. Check out the links which list channel depth

The article I found stated a little more than 3 ft - enough to clear a boat rudder.

Don't know. My experience of Florida has been that the whole state would benefit from being under water.
