Of course it is wrong! Relationships are not conditional and leaving your boyfriend at home alone on New Years is horrible, simply because he can't find a baby sitter. She definitely would not want him to do that to her if the situation was reversed!

In MY opinion (which seems to be very out of the ordinary) I'd say it is not wrong. It's not her fault that her bf of however long can't find a babysitter. and if he really wanted to go, i'd say he'd have found one! Couples are allowed to be away from each other sometimes... it really shouldn't be that big of a deal.
But if they're fighting over it and he really wants to spend New Years with her, then she should try to come up with a way to spend New Years with him and his kids. Party at his place!

It all depends. You didn't really give enough info to intelligently assess the situation. Do they live together? How long have they been together? Do they usually do everything together? Do they usually get one babysitter for both sets of kids?
So why DON'T they share the sitter and pay her double?

If she loved she would be home helping him take care of his kids.. partying on new years ever are for those without responsibilities the next day.

Whatever works for them is right - it's not for anyone else to judge. There will be other New Years when his kids are older.
