If it is outside, I think it would be fine. But I would not mulch indoor plants w/ it. A few days ago I read how at the Louisiana State University Dental School, mold was worse in the rooms that had plants where people had added coffee grounds to the plants. And skip it on aloe vera plants as well. I killed a couple of the b/c I

If you mean using ONLY coffee grounds then you will find that it is too rich for your plant. If you add the grounds to compost and then mulch the plant with that compost it will be sensational.
This is the same as if you used lawn clippings as a source of mulch. These items are great as compost ingredients but should never be used in isolation.

I don't know what china dolls is but in general mulching plants with coffee is just fine. I add coffee grounds to my mulch pile and the worms just love it.
