the name is actually nahuatl for "unique" and is one of the only names I've seen in Nahuatl that an American could actually pronounce.

I don't like it. If you have to tell people how to pronounce it, it can't be good. Besides, it sounds too much like Easel. I'm not sure what country you're from, but if you're in a country whose primary language is English, that poor baby is going to be doomed for life spelling her name all the time for everyone and always having to correct their pronunciation. Eyezell? No Easel, like what an artist uses to hold up their paintings. Oof.
If it HAS to be a Nahuatl name, Nelli could be pronounced by more Americans than Izel would be, I think. I'm all about being proud of your culture, but that's what surnames are for. My ancestors changed their given names to be Anglicized when they moved here and although your people may have always been where you are today, it is not the language of today. Unless a lot of people in your community still speak Nahuatl then I don't really see the point.

Very different What about
IxChel - it's the Mayan Goddess of the moon and fertility ..course this coming from a Goddess herself. ....prounounced like MIchelle without the "M". But Izel is rather neat.

It's different. I've never heard it before, and it seems pretty, but it might have to grow on me. A similar name is Liesl- pronounced (lee-sil) Got that from The Sound of Music.

I think that the name is very nice and sounds very pretty, I also like that it is unique enough that you won't have 2 or 3 in the same class!

I don't really like it because it reminds me of Azrael the Smurf eater. I've always seen it spelled "Itzel." What about Maite or Aitanga ?

I think it's a beautiful name. It might be more pronounceable for Americans if you spelled it Iselle or Ezelle or something like that. Christie

I think it is pretty. I have heard it used as a boy's name pronounced (ee-zel)

i think it sounds beautiful but if yur looking for uniqueness then no because i actually have a couple of friends named that but it really is a great name
