My book is about my experiences with my maternal grandmother on her farm in what is still a pretty wild bit of Western Washington State. Would you be interested in publishing it?

You need to ask the Harper Publishing company. Your question is addressed specifically to them. Not the members of Yahoo Answers.
Now, you can ask the members of YA by asking "Do they accept...", and "Would they be interested...".

You might want to check out Writer's Digest... they are a fountain of info for getting your books published.

Good luck....

Keep in mind that alot of publishing houses won't accept unsolicited manuscripts.... You'll need an agent. And you need to pitch the book to a publisher that publishes the type of book you are writing....otherwise, it'll just get dumped in the garbage pile, whether or not it's good.

I'm sorry to tell you that like most (all?) large publishing companies they won't be interested in seeing your manuscript unless you have it submitted by an agent. See this page on their web site for confirmation: http://www.harpercollins.com/footer/help.aspx#Manuscripts

A book such as "Writer's Market" may help you find a publisher.

Read about agents and what they do in this article on my web site: http://www.underdown.org/agents.htm . It's addressed specifically to children's book writers and illustrators but much of it is relevant to all sectors of publishing.

By the way, HarperCollins is the name of the company at present--they haven't been called "Harper" or "Harper and Row" in years.

it incredibly is hard to get printed. maximum agencies in basic terms settle for books submitted by employing brokers, and this is hard to get an agent. whilst they take unsolicited manuscripts, frequently in basic terms one individual reads it (an intern of a few type in some situations) and in the event that they do no longer think of it incredibly is totally large and could make distinctive money, they gained't bypass it directly to the actual people who post. you spot celebrities post SUCKY books with the aid of fact their call will sell it; you have got the main suitable e book ever yet no person is conscious of you so as that they gained't in the present day purchase your e book. It expenditures lots to marketplace a e book and carry it in the shops or regardless of, so the publishing agencies do no longer take opportunities on new expertise usually, yet Stephen King ought to write a e book of undesirable jokes and it could sell. J.ok Rowling have been given became down countless situations for Harry potter, and seem how powerful those books are. this is distinctive success and timing and robust success to you! Oh or you could self post yet those books are no longer taken "heavily" and that they are referred to as arrogance press.

Send it to them then! But be warned there are literally thousands of people out there trying to get books published. If it is about your family maybe you could try self-publishing, at least then it will get in print and be a family memento.
