I can personally tell you I've seen Paul Van Dyk use Mac. but it really doesn't matter as long as you get an axxload of Ram and a low latency sound card!! Win or Mac, doesn't matter, Ableton Live, Cubase, Traktor, all run under both operating systems.
Btw: the new Intel macs can run Os X and have a dual boot with Windows, thanks to bootcamp !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant express my awe with enough!!! If I had the money, I'd buy an Intel core 2 duo mac, you can run both, no hassle.
MacGeek: The XGS' battery is bound to last no more than 20 minutes if he hasn't replaced it throughout all this time, your macbook will do it too in a few years, and so will every notebook sadly if you don't replace the batteries within a 1 or 2 year lapse, depending on how much you use it on battery life. go Mac!!!

Every DJ I've talked to use Mac's. The hands down choice. And when in charge of renting a hall out for parties, I deal with a lot of DJ's.

When it comes to notebooks, no one can beat an Apple MacBook Pro. My brother's a DJ and he's looking to get a Mac for his business. I have a MacBook Pro myself. This is the best notebook for any purpose, hands down. Great battery life, innovated safety features, a secure and stable operating system. It's all there. iTunes is perfect for managing a massive library of music. I know, because I happen to have nearly 3,000 tracks in my own iTunes library. Sorting through them is a breeze, thanks to Spotlight search and easy navigation. Like the other guy said, Macs can run Windows XP. Why would you ever need anything else? You could get a more powerful PC notebook, but to get that power, you forfeit a slim, lightweight notebook with awesome battery life. Apple could go that route, but they chose to balance raw power with portability. A friend of mine bought a Dell XGS a few years ago. He can't run it off of the battery for more than 20 minutes. My MacBook Pro runs for about 3 hours with normal use. My MacBook Pro is also more powerful than his Dell XGS. Not to mention, his XGS is about twice as large and weighs twice as much.

Doesnt matter the brand TOO much, just about anything with a lot of gigs and fast hardrive(s). Mac's work better with media projects though. They are made for games, music and video projects.
