People are always telling me, "Oh, Nikki, you want to be a magazine editor for a good magazine here? Ha! That's stupid, it's takes FOREVER for you to become an editor, and how would you know you'd even make it?" I always get put downs or bad remarks because what I want to do. I know it's hard to do, but I am a hard worker, I can do it if I really wabted too. And I do. But, all these bad remarks and comments are hurting my feelings.
I have a couple of questions I need for you to answer for me if you don't mind answering.
1) What should I do?
2) Is my job really stupid?
3) How long would it take for me to become an editor?
4)Do I get an office/personal assistant?
5)Does it pay well?
6) WHAT SHOULD I DO?
I feel so bad...
answer please. ... thank you so much in advance!

Most of my life I was told that it wasn't possible to make a living at art. Well, I am. So try to understand that the bad vibes from others is usually just their wish that you find a more secure (to them) way to make a living. If you want it badly enough, go for it! Don't let others make your choices for you.

As for info, why not contact editors of some magazines that you like? Most people will help, and enjoy talking about their careers.

1) Speak less, spell better (sorry) and inform yourself on the area of the type of magazine you would like to be an editor for.
2) What is your job, exactly? You don't mention it. I guess you are some kind of journalist. In this case, you can learn a lot about the "magazine-building-work" from the inside and connect to people that may help you.
3) I have no idea.
4) If you want to -but what for? Are you really connected to the "field" somehow or do you do something completely different for a living?
5) If you are succesful, logically.
6) Make one step at a time to pursue what you Really want and think it Suits you. Everything else is irrelevant.

i hate to say it, but saying that you are a hard worker doesn't make you a hard worker and, well...
sorry for hurting your feelings but you're acting TOO proud of being a hard worker. You have to proove those people that you are a hard worker. Invite them to dinner, and make your own food. Serve the plates without any help from the maids or stuff (if you don't have one, you might be hard-working). Don't listen to those people! Don't believe in what they say. Just do what you want to do. It's YOUR life.
1)You should work hard, and soon, if you do, you might complete that lifetime want of yours. Learn how to become an magazine editor. Use good grammar on talking. Good spelling on writing. That might proove people that you might make a great editor.
2)Being an editor is great. You get to make opinions and stuff for magazines. You can become a more critical thinker and a great reader.
3)As long as you practice everyday. Do what editors do. Read novels and books, and make corrections on those books. Rewrite magazines but in BETTER language. I'll know that if you keep on working hard, you'll make the most perfect magazine editor.
4)Maybe not.
5)If you can make a great magazine editor, you'll make great cold hard cash.
6)Start by putting your name ON the magazine. Join all magazine competitions.
Sorry if I hurt your feelings. Just do your best!! If you make it, remember there's still hard work...
Uh, I don't know what side i am in.

I really can't help with becoming an editor, its not in my field. But I can tell you, if its what you want to do, go for it! Don't let anyone tell you you can't do it. You can do whatever you want to. When I announced I wanted to be a CEO, I was told not to be daft, it wasn't possible, I wasn't clever enough, girls don't do that and so on. But I ignored them and worked hard and I got there. You can too.

Your job first is to be a copywriter and move up the ladder. It will take years to try to take over an already established magazine, but perseverance pays off eventually.
