People are always telling me, "Oh, Nikki, you want to be a magazine editor for a good magazine here? Ha! That's stupid, it's takes FOREVER for you to become an editor, and how would you know you'd even make it?" I always get put downs or bad remarks because what I want to do. I know it's hard to do, but I am a hard worker, I can do it if I really wabted too. And I do. But, all these bad remarks and comments are hurting my feelings.
I have a couple of questions I need for you to answer for me if you don't mind answering.
1) What should I do?
2) Is my job really stupid?
3) How long would it take for me to become an editor?
4)Do I get an office/personal assistant?
5)Does it pay well?
6) WHAT SHOULD I DO?
I feel so bad...

These people are clearly not going anywhere in life. Where you see potential, they see obstacles. It sounds like you have a great attitude and that will get you wherever you want to be.
Someone out there has to be the editor of all these magazines. If the current people could get there, what makes you any different?
1. You should do what you want to do.
2. This is a highly respectable job. (And if you don't get THE editor job, there are plenty of very important, very lucrative, and very satisfying jobs below editor.)
3. I don't know.
4. Generally you will need an assistant.
5. Yes.
6. You should do what you feel you want to do.
Like I said, these naysayers are going no where. Do you really want to listen to them? NO. Live the dream.

1) Continue to work hard and always be determined, never give up(sounds cheesy).
2) No, your job isn't stupid, if you like what you do then you shouldn't let people put you down and get in your way.

first off....listen to no one, put your mind to it you can do it....the people telling you it's stupid are people who know they could never do that job and are envious that you seem to have the drive to go farther than they aloud themselves......
you need to toughen up, especially if this job is truly your goal...if your letting them get to you now ,just wait till you hit the top....
so what do you do ? nothing , ignore them...don't let it get to you....work hard and always keep smiling (even when you don't want to)
