at the end of a letter and what does P.P.S. mean?

It means "post script." Basiclly it is writing (script) that the writer needed to include after (post) ending the letter.
P.P.S. means post-post-script
Technically, you can keep going, but it looks dumb.
P.P.P.P.P.P.S. (I don't think so!)
