Can teams get promoted and stay up?
Are parachute payments enough for clubs to exist.
Should there be reserve teams in it, like Jose suggests?
Is the gulf between the leagues growing?
Should we do away with relegation so that teams do not have to budget for massive loss of revenues?

Obviously teams do get promoted and stay up - ie - the Boltons and Portsmouth's ,but they are the exception .
Most champ clubs yoyo between the 2 -ie Birmingham,Southampton.
So in answer to one of your questions -yes,the gulf between the leagues is growing, and that is a bad thing .
I fear the whole of English(world) football is becoming to conservative.
Teams today are too defensive - stats show a historical low in goals scored in the English top flight. this is due to the fact clubs need to be in the Premiership to get the tv money .
It's not about the glory of winning cups anymore,it's about the financial win of staying in the Premier league --hatefull .
I like the reserve team idea . it works well in Spain . Not sure it'll ever happen in England though -too stuck in our ways !

I bet that three years ago you would not have said do away with relegation! What about great teams like Derby County...It's just an unfair concept.

The gulf is not growing at all - teams like Reading who blend players together do well and then go on to thrive in the Premiership.

Parachute payments are not enough for relegated clubs who decide to pay journeymen players silly money.

The Premiership will come to depend upon Championship players more and more, especially the 12 or so clubs who cannot afford to match the mega-wages of teams like Chelsea - who cream off the best of talent in gigantic squads anyway.

Long live the Championship!

Why on earth can't they? The Old First Division seems in better health than any time in the last 20 years. Clealy there's a massive financial gulf between premier and championship but teams are learning now and when they go up they spend diddly buying the odd latvian striker - like watford, reading, sheff u - so if they come down they don't go bust. then in their second year, they begin buying a few more tasty players.

can't do away with relegation. that's half the fun.

you just need to keep financial buffoons like peter risdale away from running championship teams. ooops...

Yes teams can still get promoted and stay up this season reading have been great to watch also if there was reserves in the championship there would'nt be as much excitement at the end of the season .

yes they can survive, isnt it amazing though that the team with the most money in the championship, birmingham , are top....so it just goes to show that money is relevant at all levels of the game & not just the prem league.....there has always been & always will be richer & poorer clubs in football....so everyone should stop moaning about it & live with it....

Of course they can co exist....what should happen though is that teams in league two and three should be used for feeder teams...a bit like they do in the states except each season trainees from the top divisions use teams in two and three to bring on their reserve players, on an option basis....team finishing top of prem loans to promoted team from conference and pays the wages for that player and so on from top to bottom in reverse...simple

suppose chelsea reserves won the championship would they be promoted to play alongside chelsea? i don't think so. so who would go up..
suppose the same two teams were drawn against each other in one of the cup competitions or if they avoided each other and both got to the final.
the implications don't bear thinking about so it will always be reserve teams in reserve leagues.
