It'll be a mistake to hang him tomorrow for several reasons. The obvious being it'll will give him martyr status for his followers. The other being that it would be sheer hypocrisy, the war is supposed to make iraq a better country, that includes not executing former leaders but making an example of them through the strictest punishment but not barbarity. Considering the west put him there in the first place (in iraq that is) it's abit like frankensteins monster being punished for being created in the first place. The west KNEW what Saddam was/is, a crook, a thief, a bully and a murderer. If Pinochet was 'excused' so to speak then Saddams public death is wrong, whether he deserves it or not.

It will be very difficult to reconcile it all.

I always felt that he should be sentenced to pick up the bodies of dead Iraqis in Baghdad's Shiite community.

I'd rather just drop him off with the Kurds and let them handle it, but I guess we have to be humane about it.

He should have died the minute they caught him, by a gunshot wound to the head.
