I think that fullscreen DVD's rape the movie of it's true quality. Plus with widescreen you can always zoom in on the screen to get fullscreen. It may be a little distorted but hey it's still fullscreen.
Which do you prefer?

HP fan you miss something in fullscreen. Fullscreen cuts out some of the picture because it was formatted to fit the screen.

Call me a movie snob, but widescreen is the only way to go. Widescreen format shows the way the director saw the action through his own lens...any other way is not the way that it was intended. I don't believe in Pan and Scan. I'm not so much of a snob that I wont watch full screen if that is all that is available, but, I buy widescreen for myself and gifts. I don't like feeling like I'm missing something and a cropped picture can change the whole feel of a scene...

Fullscreen is better unless you have a widescreen TV and it distorts the picture of a FS movie

Wide Screen. In fullscreen you lose up to 45% of the original shot. Trust me directors use that 45% to enhance the story so you are cheating yourself of the complete experience.

Widescreen! It is the best for a home theatre w/ a projector as for a normal TV I prefer it take up the whole screen, unless it would need to be widescreem due to the wrong screen size, format and so forth. it depends on the TV size, if it is rectangular or square.

Full screen is definitely the way to go! Wide screen makes people in movies look ,well, wide. The long length luxury of full screen shows the same movie but without the irritation of those black bars above and under the movie!

I think it depends on your TV.....
personally I always get full screen.
But I want to get one of those wide TVs that you can hang on the wall. Then I'm sure I will buy the wide screen.
