I have read and heard that if an observer were to get sucked into a black hole that the observer wouldn't necessarly notice. Thus, if our solar system got sucked into a B.H. it wouldn't necessarlly matter to the everyday goings on in life.

OK, but if an observer or the solar system or whatever got sucked into a B.H. wouldn't it eventually hit the super dense object that has warped space time into a black hole? Wouldn't you notice that?

Thanks in Advnance for helping a layman.

You wouldn't necessarily notice a black hole if it was small enough. Suppose it was just a gravitationally-collapsed neutron. With its infintessimal Schwartzchild radius (~2.5e-54 meters), it could pass right through you without interacting.

Astronomers believe that if the solar system were sucked into a black hole it would have a devastating effect on the world. First as it nears the earth it would create enormous tides that could be miles high. If you manage to some how survive you would then be taken in sections such as your legs separating from your body. Lastly the earth will finally succumb to the enormous gravitational pull and dissapear.

i dunno abt all that, but i kno a cupla things...first, we dont have to worry about getting sucked into a black hole cuz there's none remotely close to us...

second...if you ever see picture of black holes swallowing stars, the whole thing slowly gets ripped apart and sucked into the black hole...kinda like a gobstopper...first the atmosphere gets sucked away, then it starts stripping it down until it completely consumes whatever got trapped by it, so you dont get whole planets or whatever getting consumed whole...what would probably happen is that the black hole pulls away all our air and eventually just start pulling people and all other non-anchored objects right out into space before you become part of the black hole...

there could be some truth that the observer wouldnt notice getting sucked into a black hole mostly for the reason that he would be dead long before he ever reached it.

Our body's molecule structure will begin to break apart long before we reach the center of the black hole. First, the atoms of our bodies will break apart from each other, then the protons, neutrons, and electrons will separate, then they will be broken down into quarks. Long before you reach the center, your body will be broken into quarks already; if quarks could "feel", then they would probably feel themselves smacking into the center of the B.H. (or they could break themselves apart into even tinier particles...who knows?)

Yeah, but we'd all die from the plasma level heat, crushing gravity and other bits of matter hitting us before we knew what was happening.
