One global warming study shows that the Arctic ice cap will melt by that time.

The United States and Canada are currently struggling with the issue of Arctic shipping lanes. Traditionally the Northwest Passage has involved crossing Canadian territory, but this could change as the ice cap melts. This may indeed mean that it will be easier for the U.S. to access its Alaskan oil, if there is any left in 35 years.

That would have some advantages. However no one knows what will happen in 35 years.

Today Greenland is covered by ice. There is only one city and the only economy is based on fishing.

However in the year 1000 , the Vikings settled Greenland, led by ostracized Eric the Red. This would be the Middle Ages in Europe. They also settled in New England and Newfoundland. The Vikings described Greenland as a mild climate and their main industry was agriculture and ship building (trees). There is a historical record of them trading with Scandinavian countries and England.

This history is also supported by Inuit records who the vikings intermingled and traded with.

My point is our climate is always changing. There are short term, and long term cycles that are always happening. Our recorded history isn't that old, 4 thousands years or so. Weathermen can't even predict the weather a week in advance.
Just too many variables such as axis shifts, magnetic shifts, sun spots/solar changes, ocean currents and on and on. All are probably inter elated.

I think they say that the SUMMER ice will be gone by 2040. In the winter, it will refreeze up every year. The winter ice will be thinner then, but shipping lanes will be open only during the summer. A problem then could be fuel for the ships, since oil may be scarce by that year.

sounds true according to what researchers say. but that isn't good for people who live on coastlines across the world. they say money is the root of evil but for the time being it is oil

Global warming is HOGWASH --- all of the so-called "facts" are based purely on junk science. In ten years, we'll be discussing Global Cooling.

Yeah? Well there is going to be a comet pass by then that won't do it again for 60,000 years, and no one will care about that either.
