Help! We live in northeast Ohio and our December has been unseasonably warm. Just yesterday I noticed my tulips were sprouting their green pointy heads! Also, my iris' are coming up as well. Is their anything I can do? Does anybody have any suggestions?

Their response to the unseasonably mild whether is irresitable.
Nothing you can do, except if you get a cold blast and they are in bloom you can protect the bloom with a cloche (a protective covering) Other than that, welcome to gardening 101. Things often don't go as you planned and the weather rarely cooperates.
Enjoy the surprises!

I live in Wisconsin, and this heppened with my irises and daylilies a couple of years ago. I just left them alone and let nature take it's course. They survived the rest of the winter just fine, but stopped growing, kind of like they went back into hibernation. In the spring, they resumed growing just as they would have had they not sprouted mid-winter.

Just leave them be. As soon as cold weather sets in they will die back. Come spring they will be back on schedule. all of my bulbs are sprouting right now.I actually have iris and paper-whites blooming right now. As long as yours don't bloom now they will in the spring.

Pile leaves around them and hope a cold snap does not hit. Burlap works also. Watch out for deer eating them.
