my hcg levels have been fine and going up. at 8 weeks they were 130,000. i still cant hear a heartbeat. my midwife is on my side and thinks that there is a viable pregnancy even know 5 week early scan showed other wise. although there is alot of faulse negatives at that stage.

when i was preg w/ my daughter they got the heart beat when i was 8 weeks ( trip to the emergency room for dehydration) and a few weeks later i had an appt w/ the ob gyn and she tried to get a heart beat and when i told her that the ultrasound speacialist got a heart beat and that i was 12 weeks at that time she did an other ultrasound and said that it was the position of the baby that was making it hard to get a heart beat so that might be it its just the position of the baby my mom also told me that it was hard to get a heart beat out of me when she was preg w me so it could just be nothing wrong just a heart beat.

No I haven't heard of your situation before however, it is normal to NOT hear the heartbeat at 12 weeks. How is your blood work? The hormone hCG should be increasing so as long as it has / or does then I would think this is a viable pregnancy. Ask your doctor or midwife about your blood test results.

By the way, I'm sorry about the loss of your Alysia and have only best wishes for you and your family with this pregnancy!

I don't know how early is "normal" but we picked up my babies hearbeat at the 12 week exam, clear as day. At my 8 week we had no luck and couldn't hear it.

I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks, they picked up the heartbeat and found the baby.

I hope all goes well for you and sorry to hear about your previous loss!

Good luck!

I'm sorry for your previous loss. I really have to be honest with you, though--no fetus means no pregnancy. Your stomach will continue to expand, but that doesn't mean anything. It's better to come to terms with it now, and follow the proper procedures outlined by your physician. Good luck.

no. i had three pregnancies resulting in three healthy births, and NEVER had an ultrasound that didn't see a fetus. Denial won't make a baby that doesn't exist.
