I'm completely baffled as to why this is.

The same reason why the N word is acceptable from a N but not from a non-N. You feel me?

I am white and have never called another white person white trash nor have been called white trash by another white person. I have however been called white trash by a person of color and it didn't phase me one bit. You know why? Because I understand that the color of my skin doesnt reflect the type of person I am. If I were black, mexican, asian, or whatever else I would still be the man I am today. I may walk, talk, or act different but what makes a man is far deeper than that. I'm not perfect by a long shot and often question whether I'm a good man or a bad one but I can tell you in full confidence my ethnic heritage has nothing to do with the way I behave and uphold my morals today.

Put the shoe on the other foot.

When was the last time you heard a black person refer to another using the n word and no offense was taken.
What would happen if a white person did the same?

It's a two way street.

Calling someone white trash is never a good thing. If anything, they are joking. It's not like black people and the n word. White people aren't okay with someone referring to them with an insult. It could be used as a joke.

That's just like when sometimes black people call each other nigggers but they don't like for white people to do so. But when black people do call each othe nigggers it's kind've different in a sense...not right...but just different than when a white person says it because we know they may mean it in a racist manner. But anyways to answer your question I tihnk because they may feel intimidated, scared, or insecure when a black person says it.

P.S. I don't go around using the word niggger myself!

For the same reason a black person can call another the "N" word but if a white person says it all hell breaks loose!! It all comes down to racism which will ALWAYS be wrong!!!!!!

It is the same principle if a white person uses the n word it is bad, but a black person using it to another black person it's okay.

It's the same as the reaso white people can't call black people certain words, but other black people can.

It's kind of like keeping it in the family. I can call my brother an idiot but I may slap someone else for calling him an idiot.

I don't know, but I have seen the same thing with blacks calling each other the N word (which I won't say).

However, it could have to do with the animosities that still exist between cultures.
