I feel more comfortable at a bar because there are others out there who are like you too sitting at the bar after a long day of work or just to relax and have a drink. It's great to sit at a bar because you can always mingle with other people.

I always feel more comfortable at a bar. I think the reason is you have more activities like watching TV, talking to others or bartender. I think the bar attracts similar people, people who wish to communicate and share things. And of course there might be some cute girl, in my dreams.

If I am sitting alone at a table, I usually have a book or something to read.

I usually take a book or magazine with me when I eat out by myself, so I prefer a table. It's a lot more comfortable, and I hate making small talk with a total stranger at the bar.

Besides, my legs are so short that I practically need a step ladder to get up on the average bar stool. I look like one of the Eight Dwarves sitting on a bar stool -- aka, Dumpy, the dwarf no one ever talks about!

If you can get to the restaurant alone, you can sure eat alone, without being embarrased. You can't really enjoy your food at a bar, it's very open and everyone at the bar will probably have to look at you (every now and then). Eat at a table and enjoy your food!

If I have a magazine then I like a table if not then the bar is better because there are people you can talk to.

The bar. No question. If you in the mood for conversation you have the bartender and whoever is sitting on either side of you.
If you in the mood to be left alone you can do that too.

Plus the service can be a quick or as slow as you'd like.

i would feel more comfortable at a bar so you can talk to someone and i would feel more comfortable at a table cause a cute boy could come up and say is someone sitting here and i could day no and we would start talking so both.

Table. I treat myself well and deserve to be. When out with a man on a date he would not set me at the bar for a meal . . . so why, when out on my own, would I treat myself any less? I still deserve to be treated well and will not sit at a bar to eat.

Bar. It's more interesting, I can read, it's low-key, drinks show up fast, and I'm not taking up a table by myself which I KNOW servers hate (therefore poorer service).

I prefer a table.
The service is better and it is physically more comfortable to eat at a table seated in a regular chair, than to be perched up on a barstool.
