iif yuo have lived in la long enough to establish residency requirements, get a lawyer. give the lawyer his most recent address. they wil make attempts to contact him for court. if he fails to show for the procedings, your divorce will be granted anyway.

Have you legally tried or have you been justing asking him for a divorce... if you file and he does or refuses to respond after a certain amount of time... depending on the state (Louisiana) you are in... the judge will eventually grant the divorce without his signature... hope this helps....

Honey, don't you know that you do not need his consent or even his presence to divorce him? All you have to do is walk into your local municipal courthouse with your marriage license on hand and take care of it. I hope that you do not have any children with him, otherwise he will always be in your life, even after you do divorce him. It doesn't matter what he thinks about getting back together with you. If your state gives you fuzz, cross the border and do it there. Yes, it is that simple.
Sincerely,
Mr. M on "divorce."

I say you go forward and get an attorney. He has not responded to your petition for divorce....so wouldn't that mean on a legal level that he is technically not contesting or denying the motion??? I say get an attorney and go for it. Good Luck!!

You need a lawyer. If you have been apart for that long, it is reasonable grounds to accept that the marriage is over legally I would have thought.

Good luck.

You moved from beautiful WA to Louisi-freakin-ana?! That was your first mistake!!! You need to hire an attorney. You don't need the other person to agree to a divorce... that's just Hollywood crap. GET-ER-DoNE.
