why are so many people UPSET that Saddam is being hung???

if it were hitler, would the same people crowing "Death Penalty is Cruel!" feel the same way?

I'm just upset that we wasted all this money and time and didn't do it when those marines found him in that hole.

I am one of those people. Hanging Sadam will not un-do what he has done in the past. Nobody that he killed will come back to life. What is the reason for killing him? If he were imprisoned for life it would have the same effect; he wont be able to kill anyone else, or regain his office. Yes, I would feel the same about Hitler. I think that the death penalty takes us to the same level as the murderer. Ghandi said "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth and the whole world would soon be blind and toothless."

He killed many, so I guess an eye for an eye, But then when you turn around and look at the reality of it, It just means 5 more people will stand up to take his place.. This is our world.. Welcome to it.

So while the person above is celebrating with his bottle of champagne, there is someone else out there planning to take Saddam's place..

I would. It is illogical for society to attempt to demonstrate that killing is wrong by killing those who have done it. Killing someone who has committed such atrocities only makes that person a martyr. Far better, IMO, for them to rot away in prison for the rest of their life, receiving no attention and having no power or control over anything.
