After the new year when all the choas is over. You don't want to spend the New year weekend taking it down because you'll waste precious party time. Do it the weekend after New year's when all the holiday choas is toned down.

I take mine down the day after Christmas... it's a fire hazard that I don't want to stay up longer than necessary... plus it takes up a lot of space in my living room and it's nice to have my living room back. Whether or not you put it off, you are still going to have to take it down... you might as well just get it over with.

I always heard it was bad luck to leave Christmas decorations up past New Year's. I always take them down during the week between Christmas and New Year.

We usually take our decorations down New Years' Day. I think it keeps the festive atmosphere around as long as possible. This year the Grinch, I mean my husband, took the decorations down Christmas day (well, that night). Not to be grinchy, just to be efficient. I say as long as they come down before Valentine's Day, you're good.

I used to take mine down sometime during the first week of the new year. This year, I had to take mine down early (yesterday), because my 2 year old decided he was going to use his new microphone stand as a bat and my ornamants as the target. I could only correct him so many times, and I finally got frustrated and took the dang thing down.

After. I especially could never understand those who take their trees down by Dec. 26th.
Christmas Season lasts until the Epiphany.
