Base PC runs fine...WEP enabled....wireless laptop connection is good to go. For some reason my friends laptop has multiple user accounts and this seems to be affecting it. I have tried to run with no firewall to get it going. Managed to get all the users IE working at once by switching user accounts, but then I turned laptop off and back on again and I now cannot connect to any page with IE, with any account. anyone got any ideas?

You only need to do a search on here to see how many people are having problems with IE7. The best thing to do is download Mozilla Firefox available from http://www.mozilla.com/ Its faster, more user friendly, easily customisable to suit your needs and no problems.

The joys of wireless. Hope some of this helps, I have had real headaches with wireless in the past

From personal experience sometimes you need to allow windows to handle the wireless connection but on some cards you need to use the software that comes with it.

Recently setting up two laptops for wireless on my router I had to first of all turn off encryption, connect the new wireless devices then reenble encryption for them. For some reason this was the only way to get it to work. They did the same thing of connecting to the router but not actually accessing the internet till I did this.

You could also try changing to WPA instead of WEP. My sisters laptop seems to prefer WPA to WEP even though this is contrary to what I have read sould happen.

By multiple user accounts do you mean windows accounts or wireless profiles, if its unneeded profiles just get rid of them to simplify things. May also be worth uninstalling the wireless software that came with the card, rebooting and reinstalling. Also look at the manufacturers website for upgraded drivers.

each and all the recommendations seem analyzing your question in yet in a distinctive way than I do. i think you're saying the desktops are appropriate to the router with wires (ethernet cables) and you're certainly no longer able to get a wifi sign. i might think of of the router isn't wifi. If it does no longer have an antenna sticking up from the back, or particularly says it relatively is a on the spot router then it relatively is now no longer a on the spot router, yet relatively a router surely. with the objective to be conscious your on the spot (wifi) adapter to get get admission to to the internet, you will want a on the spot router. you're able to desire to apply it especially much as good to the router you have already have been given (a trick to place in), or in basic terms replace the router you at the instant have. good fulfillment
