Can you rob stores in GTA SA or in Saints Row? If So How?

What are the main differences between San Andreas and Saints Row?

In San Andreas, just auto-aim the clerk (L1 I believe) and money will appear in front of them.

The only grand theft auto you can rob stores on is vice city... don't know about it on saints row. Never played it, don't want to. Dosen't look very good.
