I am using a JVC DVD Recorder model DR-M70 and I am using DVD-R discs. What am I doing wrong?

Or you may not be finalizing your disk fully.

You try to record at the lowest possible quality so you can fit more on your disc. Bad Idea. High compression rates will cause pixelation.

Use the BEST POSSIBLE quality when you record, especially if you plan to keep the discs for a long time.

This sounds like it might be counter-copyright encryption on the VHS player or the DVD recorder. Have you tried using a PC instead?
