Yes, you are allowed about a can of tuna a week, as long as it's the chunk light (so you're good to go). If you keep it to a minimum, tuna is very good for you, lots of protein and low fat :) I crave tuna fish all the time with this one as well as the last pregnancy. I ate it regularly and gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby girl. Good luck and congrats.

That's a question I asked my Dr during my last appointment. She said yes as long as it's white tuna. So I had a tuna sandwich 3 times in one week. I love tuna sandwiches I have had one here and then since my last appointment. I try not to eat too much seafood, you never know and food poisoning would be the worst right now that we are pregnant! Enjoy one on me too! LOL
22 weeks, with 1st baby!

Yes, you can eat tuna.. No, it won't harm the baby.. ( Some people I'll tell ya!!) (That is not directed to the person who asked the question.. It's to a comment made already to this question.)
Anyways, tuna and other fish carry lots of nutrients for the baby.. Like, DHA which is very good for the baby's EYE and BRAIN Development. Also, it carry's Omega 3 Fatty Acids which is good for blood flow.
Fish does have Iodine in it which to much of the intake is not good.. But it has to be ALOT of an intake of fish for it to hurt!
My doctor told me I can have tuna 2-3 times a week. I LOVE tuna salad. So, I know where your coming from. I'm due June 17th.
Good Luck and Congrats to you!!

Yes, you can, but limit your consumption of tuna while pregnant.
Because canned albacore (or white) tuna and tuna steaks are generally considered to be higher in mercury than canned light tuna, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends that you eat no more than 6 ounces a week. A 2006 review by Consumer Reports, though, showed that some canned light tuna can contain levels of mercury even higher than that of white tuna. But the FDA maintains that the levels are safe if consumption of the fish is limited, and that the current recommendations should stand.
These links should help.

Tuna (and some other fish) is high in methyl mercury, a pollutant that has found its way into the ocean. It can harm the intellectual development of the fetus and your baby if you consume too much.
The FDA recommends that women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant (or who are nursing) to limit consumption of fish and seafood to just two meals per week (no more than 6 ounces per serving). They also say you should NEVER eat tile fish, king mackerel, shark, and swordfish.
Chunk light tuna is usually lower in methyl mercury than albacore. tuna
Some experts, however, recommend avoiding tuna altogether throughout pregnancy because the methyl mercury levels vary so much from fish to fish and from can to can. So one single serving of tuna that happens to be very high can give you way too much and may harm your baby.
So in other words, try to eat as little tuna as possible, and avoid albacore, when pregnant or nursing.
So far I have eaten tuna at 3 meals total since I have been pregnant (just completed my fifth month). Its a sacrifice, but worth it!!!!!!!!!!!

You may want to rethink your cravings about tuna fish. Although the final reports are not yet finished, tuna fish consumption by pregnant women has been shown to cause autism in their children. Why does it do this you ask? Because the tuna is processed with "bio-friendly" mercury. No amount of mercury is safe. Years ago, a research department found that by processing and adding a few other chemicals to mercury, they could use it for preservatives in some injection type vaccines and in some foods. Check out www.montelshow.com(maybe www.montel.com, not sure which) because they have had SEVERAL shows AND researchers talk about this problem.

Of course you can. Mercury is sometimes found in tuna, but a little won't hurt you. In fact, tuna is good for you. Just don't eat it more than three times a week. Congrats on your pregnancy and enjoy your sandwich.

If you crave on tuna sandwich, go for it. If you crave for something else next time , go for it. Now that you're pregnant your body needs a lot of nourishment's. And remember there's two of you now that's eating, you and the baby. Don't control your cravings, it's normal for you now even after giving birth. And don't worry if you put a little weight, it's a natural process in order for you to have healthy baby.
Congratulations and take good care of that baby in you.

Of course you can. Fish is an excellent source of protein. The kind that is packed in water is best. You do not count calories while pregnant, do that after baby is born, never before. Obviously you do not want to load up on junk food or sweets either, but having tuna is perfectly fine. Any fish is good for you and for baby. Congratulations! and good luck.
