Please don't give your child Nyquil. I have an eight month old and he doesn' t sleep through the night. In fact, he still wakes up every three hours, the same as when he was a newborn. He goes through fazes where he sleeps more and then less. But, I've tried filling him up, and it helps a little. One thing that helped me was laying down to feed him. I know you aren't suppose to sleep with your baby, but he's eight months old and it has never hurt him. I am not putting him into his own bed until he will sleep through the night. Every child is different. I try to pat his butt, and sometimes he will go back to sleep.

a four month old is not suppose to sleep Thru the night. I have four kids and years of experience. However, some parents give their babies a little rice cereal just before bed time. This keeps their stomach full longer. But I would not recommend that. An infant has a very fragile system and can not digest foods at such a young age. It can cause serious problems. If your baby is only waking up once a night you should count yourself lucky. One of my children woke up 4 to 5 times a night til he was 6 months old. AND ... just in case you didn't know ... never feed your baby corn or honey before they are 1 year old. Corn can back up their system and cause serious infections. Honey can actually poison a baby. ... You can also try leaving the TV on very low on a station that only picks up static. The sound gives the baby a calming affect and the lights will lull your baby back to sleep.

Let her cry it out. I did this with my son and it was very hard at first but it worked. I would change and feed him and put him bed and shut the door. He cried HARD for 20 minutes the first two nights then went to sleep for the entire night. The next two nights he cried for 45 minutes but then the same result. After that it got to be less and less crying each night until he would only whine for about 2 minutes then he was out. I would turn the monitor down so I could not hear his cries b/c it was too difficult to bear, but would leave the power on so I could watch the lights and know when he fell asleep. Then I would check him, turn the monitor back up and go to sleep. If you give in, your efforts will have been for nothing so be firm. I would not let the baby cry for over an hour if it's hard crying the whole time. You are teaching your baby how to be independent and go to sleep on her own. It may seem harsh but it is for her own good. She needs the longer sleep periods as well but as long as crying results in her being picked up, fed or rocked, the behavior will not change on it's own. YOU are in control.

First of all you are soooo very lucky that your 4 month baby wakes once/night! mine is 6 months and wakes up 3-4 times! However a good night sleep highly depends on 3 things:
1. Make sure she has a clean diaper
2. Feed her well
3. Give her a warm bath using Johnson's & Johnson's Lavender shower gel. It will help her relax.

Regular formula fed or breast fed? My daughter is breast fed and sleeps for at least 8-10 hours a night and she has to be fed right before 10pm to get in the nice fatty milk that"s produced. Then She not up until 7am to 9 am. She has 2-3 naps a day. Some are only 30min long the longest is 4 hours and that's too long for her cuz then she doesn't want to sleep by 9 pm. Only 1 to 2.5 hours for nap works for my daughter.

Make sure she has a full tummy
most kids wake up in the middle of the night because they are hungry, especially if they are still only on fluids.
try mixing in some baby cereal to their formula.
if your brestfeeding give her an extra 15 minutes before you put her down.
No Nyquil <-- or anyother sleep medicine, that guy is retarted
However when she starts teething, dip your finger in tequila & rub it on her gums, don't let her drink it, just enough to rub on her gums

Keep her from taking a long nap during the day. My kids hated when I'd wake them up early, but it worked....along with making sure they had a full tummy and a clean diaper on. Also noticed a nice warm bath about an hour before bedtime helped too.

that wont happen until she's about 6 months but if you keep her up ALL day and then give her a bottle right before she goes to bed but u gotta fill it with the baby cereal or baby rice. I guarantee she'll sleep great! ( dont give her cereal during the day or it wont work as effective) Good luck

DO NOT GIVE YOUR KID ANY MEDICATION UNLESS PRESCRIBED BY YOU DOC.
Many of those sleep meds have not been tested on the pediatric population and may well likely cause death.
Best thing to do is make sure their full, dry, and comfortable. It will pass until then drink alot of coffee during the day to stay awake.
