Ok. Most hamsters will drink out of a bottle, but if he isnt using it you can try putting a small water bowl in his cage.

Hamsters Must chew on things or their teeth can get painfully large and they can hurt themselves. Its possible that he doesnt like the chew toys that youve been giving him, and hamsters have also been known to reject food and chews that are left on the floor of their cage. Get a hanging wooden chew, or some flavored chew sticks (theyre innexpensive) and try different things until you find something your hamster likes.

Hamsters are not very innately trusting, so it takes a while to get them to like you. Dont just pick him up, youll scare him. Open his cage and put your hand in flat, palm up on the bottom. He should come over to investigate. This will get him used to you. Once he is used to this, he should climb onto your hand (this will take more then one day to make him accustomed). With him on your hand raise your hand a few inches in the cage and then put it back down. Keep doing this until he is used to it. You should after a while be able to lift him all the way out of his cage and hold him. Dwarf hamsters are not that friendly at first so be patient with him. When he does let you pick him up all the way, be sure to give him a treat every time so that he associates being held with a pleasant reward.

Also, food and water for your hamster Must be changed daily. Dont put too much food out at a time. He should also be fed fresh fruit (apple pieces are good) and fresh veggies (lettuce/carrots) about once a week to keep him healthy.

Hope this helps!

First of all get in touch with who you bought the animals from for specifics. I did not teach my hamster to drink. I put her near the bottle and she learned to use it on her own. I have a dwarf hamster and love her to pieces. Just pick it up every day and talk soothing to it. It will soon learn your voice and scent and trust you. If it keeps snapping, wear a pair of cloth gloves until it gets used to you. I teach science and we have mice, frogs, and a hamster. They all take time. Most of all be loving and always pet them gently. Do not approach at them from their face. They will bite. Always pet away from the head. Feel free to email with questions and I will help the best I can.

P.S. They will hide their food in their cage. Dont worry about it. Just put food in once a week. For now I would not put fruit in there. If they hide it you will have a mess. Also make sure they have a tube or some thing they can hide it.
