or is it a different set of moves for male/female?

Thanks for your help...so in general it would look "odd" or feminine if a male went "on pointe". Sorry, I do not know the terminology...

The vast majority of men don't do pointe work. However, if you look up the choreography of Mark Morris (his version of the Nutcracker is called "The Hard Nut") he uses men on pointe occasionally. I believe, though, that these men are almost exclusively in drag.

I'm assuming that you're referring to pointe when you say "tippy toes".
To answer that question, no, men do not go en pointe. However, there are some male dancers that have an interest in it and will try it if they want to. They have to get specially made larger shoes with stronger shanks (soles) though.

Not on the very points like the women do. I've seen several ballets, and the men go on toes, but not on the tippy-toes.

there is a different set of moves kind of...guys usu dont go en pointe except in special cases, like if they're going to be a choreographer or want to understand the girls part in partnering. some places that have only guys put some of them on pointe...but if you are going to start taking ballet at a local studio or something than you definitly wont be on pointe

well from my experiance as a dancer, males DO NOT use point shoes. in general ballet, males are used primarily for lifting the females. so if they were to were pointe shoes, they would fall over. thats why they were spilt-sole ballet slippers.

They don't always go on their toes, I guess it depends on what dance that they would have to do in ballet. Because I've seen a lot of guy do ballet and only a few go on their toes.

No males do not go on pointe. The male dancers are usually known for their high jumps.

some of the moves are the same, most of the leaps are different, usually the girls learn both, while guys only learn the ones for guys.most men do not take pointe, but they do take demi(obviously).some men do study it,it makes them stronger,my teachers do not let men study it in the studio I dance in.
its ur choice
