Wile E Coyote is clever, and the ACME catalogue provides him with inspiring products to help him in his plans, unfortunately- the Roadrunner is just fast and pretty clever in his own right. It pretty much comes down to this: to err is human, to be looney is comedy. There's no reason other than to make us laugh.
