I am 39 weeks and I went to the doctor yesterday and was not dialated. My cervix is very posterior but he "scraped" me the best he could. My stomach hurt down low but I dont know if it is just from where he roughly checked me. This morning I got up and used the restroom and had blood tinged discharge in my underwear. Could this be the start of my mucus plug or just blood from him checking me? This is my second baby, my first was 9pds and 6 ounces 22 inches long. So I was hoping to go early with this one even though they said she will be petite. She weighed 6pd 5ounces 2 weeks ago in the ultra sound. Please help and let me know what it sounds like to you. It is quite possible that it is your mucous plug. My last son (3rd) I wasn't too sure either and researched it online. However your description sounds like it is. My first son I lost my mucous plug and went into labor that day. I don't recall seeing my plug with my second son. My third son I lost my mucous plug; however didn't go into labor until about a week later. If you are concerned I would recommend you consult your doctor. I think I lost my mucus plug a couple days ago.. There was a bloody mucus and some blood.. but I am 33 weeks pregnant.. It sounds to me like a little bit of bleeding from the checkup

More than likely, that was just blood from the checkup. You're probably very sensative in that area since you're so far along. Some women never see their mucus plug (I didn't with my last one), so you may not either. But I'm sure your baby will be here in no time. Good luck!

It could be the mucus plug, I could never tell. You are far enough along that it's OK if you went into labor now. If 2 weeks ago she was over 6 lbs, she may be over 7 by now! Have you got your burst of energy yet?

More than likely it's blood from the checkup. A majority of the time, if you lose your mucus plug, you wouldn't notice it.

it could be that you may be going in to labor. sometimes when doctors check you that late in the pregnancy it is done to get labor started. also, dont always believe what doctors say about the baby's weight. my first son was 5lbs. 8 ozs. my OB kept telling me my baby's would be small because i too am petite. when i was pregnant with my 2nd they told me my baby would not weigh more than 7lbs. he came in at a whopping 8lbs 10ozs. Thats kinda hard to tell....When i first got checked, i bled like for 3 whole days. But then again it could be your mucus plug.

the mucus plug ususally isnt that bloody, it clear with maybe a little bit of blood but not a lot
