I get all As and Bs in school but wow i cant believe how bad i did on this test! my weakest subject is math and i got a 310 on that! that basically screwed my whole score up but im only in geometry so i haven't been exposed to calclus and pre-calc questions that were on the PSATs. You can't "fail" the PSATs. There is no "opassing" score. It is a practice test. You didn't do very well. Maybe, as someone suggested, you lost track of the answer numbers and put the answers in the wrong place. That would be an easy mistake to make. OR maybe you were just nervous.

This was practivcce. Before you get to the SATs get one of those practice books and go through it. It will give you some tips and allow you to plan some strategies for working with the questions. With a little preparation you should be able to do well.

And, p.s. just about every college says that the main thing they consider when admitting someone is their GPA. The SAT or ACT tests are just a confirmation. So relax and keep on doing your usual good job! :)

Simple answer is you might have numbered the answer sheet wrong.

Otherwise, you just probably didn't know the subject matter. If you want to go to college, it tells you that you need to brush up on your test taking skills. Those are different from actually knowing the subject matter or doing well in class.

You're not dumb, you're just not good at taking that test. That's your problem, so now you just have to figure out how to solve it (start by taking more practice tests and/or a review course).

Oh, and there's no calculus or "pre-calc" stuff on the PSAT. It could be that your school just sucks and didn't teach you as much as you thought (how are you supposed to know?). That's why colleges use standardized tests instead of purely relying on grades. Schools are all different and there are some REALLY bad schools in the US. Grades can easily be inflated (that's why we have people graduating high school who can't read).

You can't fail the PSAT, it is only a starting point to get college scholarships, one of many. It is just a practice test for the SAT. PSAT does not have calculus questions, only algebra 2.

Some people test well. Some people don't. Some people just have a really bad day or are sick when they test.

Keep working on your math, vocabulary, and essay writing. Read everything you can. Take a course to learn test taking strategies. The SAT is very coach-able. You can raise your score by 100 to 300 points by learning to take it using strategies rather than accumulated knowledge.

Relax try again. Get a book and practice.

This is why you take a PSAT, practice. You have plenty of time to get better. Just get one of those Kaplan review books and read it. It will help you understand what they are looking for.

it might be the subjects that you are doing bad on, just try and focus on the bad subjects and you will do fine.
