sorry folks, but this funeral is already on 10 other channels. why does CBS feel the need to break away from a great football game so they can be the 11th channel to show it?

they pay for the exclusive broadcasting rights to show the Sun Bowl, and now it appears that the rest of the 2nd Quarter will be totally blacked out.. nobody is showing it..

Sorry folks, but us canadian football fans who like bowl games could care a less about political funerals..

anyone else agree that pulling the plug on the football game was a bad decision?

this isn't a canadian vs american thing. it's about respecting the sun bowl teams. missouri and oregon state have just been disrespected by having the plug pulled on them. this is their one big chance to shine on national tv.

if a canadian leader died, there would be some channels that would show the funeral, but we wouldn't interrupt a major sporting event. we'd wait and show the funeral after the game or at half time.

guess this is just another indication that war and politics are the only thing that matters in the USA. no wonder most of the world has negative views and percetions of the USA. it's sad..

I'm American and respect Mr. President Ford highly, but I agree with you. For one thing, there's a reason the Ford's had a PRIVATE funeral. Yeah, it was on a bunch of channels already. Why would they turn off an exciting game to show it? I highly agree with you. This so far was probably the most exciting game (except maybe Hawaii-ASU and Alabama-OSU). CBS really blew it. I totally agree that they should've kept the football game. Besides, Gerald Ford would've wanted them too anyway - he himself was a college football addict and former player.

Honestly, he was the oldest living president. He was the man who pardoned Nixon, the man who was pushed into the presidency. The game is just that, a game. They could always join it in progress or something. Besides, it's the fricken Sun Bowl. Other than the guys who root for Oregon State or Missouri, who really cares about the fricken Sun Bowl? I think that the Canadians who could care less about political funerals, you also gotta think "What if it was one of our prime ministers who have died?" because if it was, and it was a canadian network that was carrying whatever sport we wanted to see, this type of thing'll happen. Besides, there's always the halftime report if you wanna know if anything important happened in the 2nd Quarter. RIP Gerald Ford, the 38th President and the only one never elected.

People say it is a matter of respect because he did things for this country, but there are so many others who die fighting for this country. Members of the military lose their lives doing tremendously dangerous things and when it really comes down to it, if nobody was willing to fight for our country, it would not exist. Those are the people who we should be paying respect to, and if there is no funeral for them that is interrupting a bowl game, give me back my football.

No. It's a matter of showing some respect for one of our former presidents, a man who gave a lifetime of service for his country. Did you notice that all the flags are at half staff too? Same reason.
Buy a tape of the game.

I like football as much as the next person but there are priorities. No, I don't think it was a bad decision. Ford was a former President who deserves the respect due him.

Ford, influential man, died, really important, more interesting than football. Need I say more? Personally I think putting him in the football timeline is more insulting to him than the game. That's the only thing that irks me about it.

I see it both ways. This is a respect issue, but at the same time I see your point. At least you can get up-to-the-minute game updates online.
