I had this from about weeks 35 with my 2d son. I desire I would offer you a magic therapy, but subsequently he needed to be triggered on the grounds that it used to be giving me a lot discomfort. I'm hoping you do not must go by way of the identical factor, but i'd mention it to your midwife if the discomfort is an excessive amount of to bear. I bought to the point the place attacks would go away me sitting within the middle of the street or on the kitchen ground maintaining trays of scorching meals. Never let it get as bad as it was with me, it's simply not worth the threat and the affliction. Now i am nearly 14 weeks + 6 with my 1/3, and i have been experiencing sciatica once more, although to a so much lesser degree at such an early stage. I advised my midwife instantly about what had occurred with my last youngster, and she or he has had me pointed out both physiotherapy and a maternity acupuncturist. Optimistically this may support. I'm wondering if anything like this wold be a workable option for you if they may be able to get you an appointment speedily ample? Just right luck with your bundle of pleasure and i am hoping you've some alleviation from the suffering soon!

alternate ice packs and moist heat on the painful area in the low back.
Do NOT use electric heating pads or dry heat.
Leave heat or ice on for no longer than 10 minutes at a time.
Have her sit on a chair and slump over (like they tell you to do in airplanes). This will gently stretch the mucles in the low back.
You can rub her low back if you are both comfortable with that.
Using a little Capsaicin Creme or Icy Hot will also help.
Have her lie on her back on the floor or on a firm bed and GENTLY do a spinal twist:
Start out with a 'snow angel' position, arms straight out to the sides. Then swing theleft leg over in an arc, across the body to the other side, until it touches the bed. Turn the head to the opposite position. Relax. If she can't touch down, place a pillow on which she can rest her left leg.
Relax and breathe for a couple of minutes.
Then repeat with the right leg over to the left.
This is a simple home remedy. If it doesn't help sufficiently, she may benefit from seeing a Chiropractor.
Adjustments, however, are often useless within the first day or two of the injury and before the muscles aren't relaxed.
At least do the ice and heat alternate packs.

Nope. At 75 years old, she should get an x-ray or MRI done to make sure she didn't do anything to her disks or her vertabrae. A bulging, ruptured or thinning disk can cause pressure on the sciatic nerve. Also a rotated vertabrae can as well. She needs to find out what went wrong forst before it can be treated. Don't let anyone touch her before she finds out.. or they could do more damage. Once they know what is wrong, either a physical therapist or a qualified reputable chiropractor and fix the problem.

OUCH, been there done that.First have her take whatever she can take for pain, prefferably advil, with food. Put an ice pack on it for 20 min. on the every hr. or two back on for 20 min. for the first 48 hrs. then she can start putting a heating pad on it and rotate with the ice and heat for a couple of days. Rest and keep the advil going and watch the stomach...food with it. She can lie down on the bed and have you take your hand and start at the top of her hip that hurts and press on the ara that hurts, push on it pretty firmly, what she can stand and rub all the way down her leg. this gets the blood flowing into the area. Do this several times a day, rub vigirously and press on the nerve just to the point that ahe feels it and hold it, the rub it down. After a few days have her lie down, take that leg, rotate it in small circles, as she can tolerate ita nd put your hand on her buttock, where the ball and joint are and press on it while turning her leg in small circles, slowly. If it hurts too bad, stop. If it's tolerated then do bigger circles still pressing on the ball and socket. then rub the socket part to get the blood flowing to that area. you can put hot compresses on it too. heat some towels in the microwave and make sure they aren't too hot. this will feel the greatest. Slowly she will get better, this will take time and she can't over do it for a while. If it's no better in two weeks go to the Dr. thay will do x-rays and probably physical therapy. good luck.

because it was an injury. you should alternate between heat and cold therapy ( about an hour 3x a week) keep it stretched. if possible try to get a proffesional massage therapist to work on that area atleast once a week. not a full body massage. just focus on the piriformis, glutes and hams. before that you should go to a doctor to see if there is any real damage that massage could further damage

Usually when there is sciatica, its due to a bulging or herniated disc. If its painful, it may be a herniation. If there is loss of feeling, it could be bulging. The disc that is the culprit is usually L4/L5 which is the lowest disc in the back. To tell for sure requires an MRI. xrays do not show herniations. The first step is to find the root cause before trying anything else. Most of the time, this condition does not require surgery. I would recommend against surgery if there is any chance it can be avoided. I have had two herniations and am ok today without surgery. Here are some references.
